June 17, 2015

We packed up and headed out of Fillmore at about 10:30am. We fueled up and unhitched the car to prepare for a Canyon drive. The scenery changed from the view of snow capped Rocky Mountains and green hills to Red Clay Mountain and Canyons with very little flatlands. We crossed into AZ and it was a tight, suspenseful drive through the canyon under construction. Traffic was very congested as we got into town. We needed to wash the RV, so we stopped at a Truck Wash upon arrival at Las Vegas Motorcoach Resort. As we pulled into the Resort, all of our jaws dropped at how beautiful it was. There is 24 hour gate security, a stunning club house and the lots are all equipped with a beautiful stone drive, patio and built-in barbecue kitchen.

After setting up camp we decided to find a restaurant with steak on the menu! We decided to introduce the kids to a Brazilian Restaurant called Fogo de Chao. I love Brazilian Restaurants so we decided to take the kids for their first experience and splurge on fine dining. Colin and Charlie were complementary, otherwise I may have thought twice about going there. Charlie wanted nothing to do with the salad bar until he got back to the table to see the other kids with a plate full. I took him back up there and he chose a few mystery meats and salad. After he was done trying each thing on his plate, I told him congratulations, he had just tried new foods including prosciutto. When we were all done with our starters, we were able to flip our cards over so the Brazilian men walking around with an assortment of meats could come over and serve us. That was a hit. I really enjoyed the chicken and garlic sirloin, Josh loves filet, Colin in enjoyed the top sirloin, Lamb was top on Carmen's list, Charlie liked them all and Chandler's favorite was the sirloin. We all chose to split dessert. My Lava cake came with Strawberries which I'm allergic to and wasn't on the menu so they brought me a new one. Everyone was excited about that because there was more to go round. Gotta love strawberry garnished desserts. All in all I think dinner was a hit.

After dinner we drove down the Las Vegas Strip. Charlie saw some Transformers, Ironman and Minions walking down the strip and wanted to meet them. After a few wrong turns, I was able to find a parking lot and we went through the Miracle Mile Mall. Ahead of us was the Bellagio Hotel where Josh wanted everyone to see the fountain water show they have about every 15 minutes. As we made out way though the crowd we came across IronMan, Minions, "girls in feathers" and a few street performers. There were a few times I needed to divert the boys attention to avoid them seeing some very inappropriate things but we handled it pretty well. We watched the beautiful water show and proceeded to walk all the way down the Strip looking for the Transformers. Finally we found them and the boys got their photo taken with the "transformers."  There are so many people looking for a buck on the Vegas Strip. I give them props for their creativity. By 11pm we realized it was time to get back to camp. We drove the Strip one last time on our way out and called it a night.
